Arms trafficker duo held from Bagdah, North 24 Pargana
The CID has arrested two arms trafficker from Ashua bus terminus on Bangaon-Bagdah Road near the Indo-Bangladesh border on Tuesday afternoon. The arrested, identified as Taliq Mandal and Salim Mandal, hail from Jamalpur in Bihar. Two 9mm revolvers, 4 revolvers, 7 one shotters and 44 rounds of cartridges have been recovered from them. The traffickers used to sell the Bihar-made arms in local markets.
According to sources, the arms syndicate is active along places like Ashua, Banshghata, Amdoba close to the Indo-Bangladesh border. Few months back the BSF arrested an arms trafficker from the region. On 13th July, 2007, the BSF arrested one Noor Islam, who is allegedly linked to HuJI and was involved in smuggling RDX across the border.

Two Bangladeshi infiltrators arrested from Hingalganj, North 24 Pargana
The BSF has arrested two Bangladeshi infiltrators from Sahebkhali village under Hingalganj PS in North 24 Pargana district. The arrested, identifed as Rabiul Islam and Razzaq Ghazi hail from Kultali village in Bangladesh. Sukanta Mandal has been arrested on charges of sheltering the infiltrators. The BSF handed over the trio to the police on Monday. Some Bangladeshi currency and one mobile handset has been recovered from the infiltrators.

Four Bangladeshi women held for shoplifting in Raiganj, South Dinajpur
Four Bangladeshi women has been arrested on charges of shoplifting from a jewellery shop in Sukanta More in Raiganj in South Dinajpur district while the fifth managed to slip. Five women had come to buy jewellery for a wedding in their family at Bidyut Karmakar’s jewellery shop. While ornaments were shown to them, they lifted some of the jewellery after making a petty purchase of Rs 1,600 they left. Locals chased the women after the owner raised an alarm. All four hail from Comilla district in Bangladesh.

300 cattles rescued from Dhubri
The BSF has rescued 300 cattleheads from the riverine Indo-Bangladesh border in Dhubri on Friday night. Th cattles worth Rs 56,00,000 were meant to be smuggled out to Bangladesh.

Smuggler shot dead in Jalangi, Murshidabad
The BSF has shot dead a cross border smuggler at the Indo-Bangladesh border in Singhapara, under Jalangi PS in Murshidabad district on Thursday night. The smuggler, identified as Paperul Shaikh (24) hails from Chak Mathura village under Jalangi PS.

Four cattle smugglers arrested from East Khasi Hills
The BSF has arrested four cattle smugglers and rescued 18 cattles from Lyngkhat village in East Khasi Hills on Wednesday. The smugglers have been identified as Basapa Mohori (50) of Pynursla village in East Khasi Hills, Danny Khongsam (20) and Abdul Gaffoor (18) of Kamrup and Annas Ali (27) of Dhubri. The cattles having an approximate market price of Rs 2,70,000 has been handed over to the concerned department.

Bangladeshi infiltrator arrested from Krishnaganj, Nadia
The BSF has arrested a Bangladeshi national from Gede border under Krishnaganj PS in Nadia district on Tuesday night for entering into India without valid documents. The Bangladeshi, identified as Jyoti Ali hails from Rayerab under Kadamtala PS in Bangladesh. He has been handed over to the police.

21 cattleheads rescued from Dhubri, one held
The BSF arrested a smuggler from the riverine Indo-Bangladesh border near Patharmari BOP in Dhubri district, while crossing over to Bangladesh with six cows. In separate incidents the BSF has also rescued fifteen oxen from Matrichar and Mahamayachar in Brahmaputra. The market price of the cows and oxens are Rs 1,20,000 and Rs 1,92,000 respectively.

12 Kgs of ganja seized from Mahendraganj, West Garo Hills
Acting on a tip-off, a special operations team of BSF recovered 12 kgs of ganja worth Rs 60,000 from Kalaichar area under Mahendraganj PS in Tura sector in the district of West Garo Hills on Sunday night. None has been arrested in this connection.
